Each lamp base can have a different fitting type which can make purchasing a suitable lampshade quite tricky. The below information should make your decision easier, but if you require additional help or a bespoke product, please do reach out to us on email.

We believe that the size of the lampshade is down to personal preference, but as a general rule we recommend the bottom diameter of the lampshade is the same height as your lamp base.

All Komorebi lampshades are made to fit onto any UK or EU lamp or light fitting, this includes BC and ES sizes. We will also provide a convertor ring with any purchase made through our website. 

Each of our larger lampshades that require a shade carrier will have a standard 6” carrier provided with the purchase. Any additional accessories or converters can be purchased directly through our website here.

FITTING TYPES

Gimble Fitting

This is a fixed fitting that will work with any UK or EU lamp or light fitting, this includes BC and ES sizes. A Converter Ring will be provided with any purchase.

This will work with our below standard sizes:

  • Coolie Mini: 10” x 4” x 7”
  • Empire Mini: 8” x 4” x 5.5”
  • Empire Midi: 12” x 6” x 7.75”

Duplex Fitting

This is a fixed fitting that will work with any UK or EU lamp or light fitting with an accompanying accessory, such as a shade carrier, a ceiling fitting adapter or a harp finial adapter.

This will work with our below standard sizes:

  • Coolie Midi: 16” x 5” x 9”
  • Coolie Grande: 20” x 6” x 11”
  • Empire Maxi: 16” x 8” x 9.5”
  • Empire Grande: 22” x 11” x 12”

HOW OUR ADAPTERS WORK

Gimble Fitting

This is a fixed fitting that will work with any UK or EU lamp or light fitting, this includes BC and ES sizes. A Converter Ring will be provided with any purchase.

These lampshades are often not suitable for US purchases. If you would like to purchase a lampshade that comes with a gimbal fitting for the US you can make a bespoke purchase here.

Shade Carriers

Lampshade carriers are needed for Duplex fitting lampshades with a bottom diameter of 14”, 16”, 18”, 20”, 22” and above.

This attaches to the lamp base, and the lampshade sits on top of the three flat sections.

Shade Carriers come in a variety of heights to either heighten or lower the shade on your table lamp. We provide these in 4”, 5”, 6” and 7” here.

Ceiling Fitting Adapters

The 'ceiling fitting adapter' also known as a spider fitting allows any UK Duplex fitting lampshades to convert from a table lamp to a ceiling pendant.

This fixes to the bulb holder and the Duplex fitting on the lampshade sits on top of the three prongs. This will work with all lampshades with a bottom diameter of 14", 16", 18", 20", 22" and above.

This fitting will work for both BC and ES light fittings by using the provided Converter Ring.

Harp Fitting Adapters

The 'ceiling fitting adapter' also known as a spider fitting allows any UK Duplex fitting lampshades to convert from a table lamp to a ceiling pendant.

This fixes to the bulb holder and the Duplex fitting on the lampshade sits on top of the three prongs. This will work with all lampshades with a bottom diameter of 14", 16", 18", 20", 22" and above.
